Why Brainsmith?
Science-backed
Each game targets a specific executive function โ inhibitory control, working memory, cognitive flexibility, and sustained attention โ drawn from Diamond's 2013 landmark EF research, n-back protocols, and Stroop paradigms. We didn't make this up; the science did.
Built for ADHD focus
Short rounds, high-feedback loops, and adaptive difficulty keep kids engaged โ not overwhelmed. The app speaks directly to the child in plain, encouraging language your kid will actually respond to.
Just 10 minutes
The whole warmup โ four games back to back โ takes about 10 minutes. Done before school, it primes the prefrontal cortex for a better focus day without adding homework-style pressure.
Four games. Four skills.
Every session runs through the same four rounds in order, each targeting a distinct executive function kids with ADHD most need to train.
Color Calls
Inhibitory Control
Trains the brain to pause and override an automatic response โ the foundation of "stopping before acting" that ADHD kids find hardest. Inspired by the classic Stroop paradigm.
Memory Sky
Working Memory
Builds the mental scratchpad โ holding and manipulating information in mind โ using a card-matching sequence inspired by n-back research on working-memory training.
Sort Switch
Cognitive Flexibility
Practices switching rules mid-game โ sorting by one dimension, then another โ to strengthen the mental gear-shifting that helps kids transition between tasks without melting down.
Find the Echo
Sustained Attention
Exercises the ability to maintain focus on a repetitive task all the way to the end โ the scan-and-match format holds engagement while the difficulty ramps gradually.
Parents first. Always.
You're trusting us with your kid's data. Here's what that means in practice.
COPPA-compliant
Only parents create accounts. No child under 13 signs up directly. Verifiable parental consent is required before any kid data is collected.
No ads. No data sale.
We don't show ads and we never sell or rent personal information. We never use kid data for advertising or marketing โ period.
Encrypted at rest
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+). Database access uses row-level security so parent accounts can only see their own data.
Multi-kid families
One subscription covers your whole family. Add a kid profile for each child โ each gets their own progress dashboard and streak.
Delete anytime
Review, export, or permanently delete all kid data from Parent Lounge โ Settings โ Privacy. No hoops, no waiting.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a clinical treatment for ADHD?
No โ and we're intentional about that. Brainsmith is a science-informed daily practice, not a medical treatment. The games are grounded in peer-reviewed executive function research, but the app is not a diagnostic tool and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent ADHD or any other condition. Think of it as a warmup, the way athletes warm up before a game โ not a cure.
What ages is Brainsmith for?
Brainsmith is designed for kids 6โ10. The game mechanics, language, and difficulty levels are calibrated for early elementary school age. Younger kids may find it too challenging; older kids may find it too easy.
Does my child need an ADHD diagnosis to use it?
No. Brainsmith is built for diagnosed and undiagnosed kids alike. Executive function skills benefit all kids, and many parents use it as a proactive practice even before (or without) a formal evaluation. You're not required to enter a diagnosis.
Can my kid use it without me?
Yes โ after parent setup. You create the account and your child's profile in the Parent Lounge. Once that's done, your kid can tap the app and jump straight into their warmup session. The Parent Lounge (where account settings and progress dashboards live) stays separate and is accessible only to you.
How does the streak work?
Brainsmith tracks consecutive days your child completes a full warmup session. The streak is designed to encourage daily consistency without punishing the occasional miss โ life happens, and we don't want skipping one day to derail the whole habit. You'll see the streak in the Parent Lounge, and kids see a friendly progress indicator (not a punishing counter).
